BREAKING: Tesla has officially started offering Cybercab rides to the public. I’ve been waiting years to say that! I took one of the world's first public rides. The cabin is comfortable and spacious, the suspension is soft, and FSD is VERY smooth. It’s an incredible vehicle. The screen is HUGE. The video doesn’t do it justice. We can ride in the Cybercab anywhere in Tesla’s Austin service area, so the same areas as the Model Y Robotaxi. The Cybercab lives up to the hype. It will transform travel. Here's a clip of my ride:

Why is Tesla Cybercab and Robotaxi so important to me? And why is today such a huge deal? (Tesla is announcing Cybercab later today in a small event in Austin). It started in 1980 and 81 when two of my high school friends were killed in car wrecks. One was a girl who marched next to me in band. I visited her home the morning after it happened and saw the pain on her dad's face. I wish I could wave a magic wand and keep that pain from other fathers. Unfortunately about 40,000 a year in USA and 1.2 million world wide meet the same fate every year. If the airline industry killed that many we…

Will a billion humanoid robots be ready by 2030? No, and the arithmetic is not close. The world shipped about 13,000 humanoid robots in 2025, roughly 85% of them Chinese. AGIBOT and Unitree did over 5,000 each. Figure and Tesla together managed a few hundred. Morgan Stanley expects China to pass 28,000 units in 2026. Getting from 13,000 to a billion by 2030 means multiplying output roughly 9.5x every year for five straight years without a miss. For scale, the world builds about 90 million cars a year. A billion humanoids by 2030 would mean producing eleven times the entire global car…

At the same time, most robots deployed in China today don’t require general-purpose intelligence. So why are billions being invested? Optimus has the potential to become one of the most important products ever created. Once humanoid robots can perform a wide range of useful tasks at scale, the impact on manufacturing and the global workforce could be enormous. Tesla’s focus is now clear: scale Optimus production as fast as possible.

A robot built by Beijing's X-Humanoid ran 100 meters in 9.39 seconds on Saturday. Bolt's record is 9.58. Elsewhere at those games, robots tripped, came apart, and one caught fire. Everyone is quoting the one that caught fire. That is not the part that matters. This is. China installed roughly 276,000 industrial robots last year. The US installed about 38,000. China's operational stock is roughly 2 million units against our 394,000. Chinese firms shipped something like 80% of the world's humanoids and hold ~85% of the market. Our response, on July 28, was to add foreign-made humanoids to the…

Bank of America thinks the world will have 3 billion humanoid robots by 2060 Read that again. Not 3 million. Not 30 million. Three billion — more than the roughly 1.5 billion cars currently on Earth, on a per-capita basis. The obvious reaction: why would humanity ever need that many? Here's why the forecast isn't as crazy as it sounds. BofA's analysts don't frame this as science fiction. They frame it as a demographics problem — aging populations in…

Grok 4.5 (Expert): \\Tesla is easier to disrupt.\\ An ASI-first company that then uses that intelligence to design and produce superior general-purpose humanoid robots has a much more direct, higher-leverage attack surface against Tesla than against SpaceX. The difference comes down to domain physics, regulatory/infrastructure scarcity,…

Optimus enters production [music] at the Fremont factory this week and Tesla stock climbed 5.51% [music] on a day the indexes fell. Hello and welcome to your Tesla briefing on the August 31st session. Here are the six things that matter. Optimus is reported to enter production at Tesla's Fremont factory this week. That moves the humanoid robot from demo footage to an actual manufacturing line. Tesla closed the session at $367.95, up 5.51%. The contrast stood out because the S&P 500 fell 0.33% and the Nasdaq fell 0.12% on the very same day. That looks like the market starting to price Optimus…
